Breast cancer - support each other

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer. About 1 in 8 women is diagnosed with this type of cancer during their lifetime. We all know how hard is talking about this. That's why it is very important to know more about it, read about it and support each other.

Let's start with the symptoms:

You may consider difference in:
- the size of one or both breasts ;
- a rash around or on your nipple,
- your nipple size or colour,
- a lymph node

If you are feeling pain in your breasts, it is unlikely to be a breast cancer.

I know a lot of women are interested in preventing breast cancer. So to do that you should go to your doctor every 6 months. You need to know your body very well and if you notice any change in consistence, size , colour of your breasts or any other thing, you should set-up un appointment to see a doctor no matter when was the last time you did it. If you are over 40 you should have annual mammografy every year.
Also the things you need to avoid are :
- smoking
- drinking alcohol
- gaining weight
- hormone therapy
- exposure to radiation

Also there are factors you can't control by yourself such as your age, a family history of breast cancer, a previous diagnosis of breast cancer, being tall.

If you are expecting a child and you are wondering if breast-feeding is unhealthy for you - don't worry, it is very healthy not only for your child, but it also might play role in breast cancer prevention.

Breast cancer can be devided in two main gropus - carcinomas and sarcomas. Carcinomas arise from epithelial cells - in lobules and terminal ducts. These sells are responsible for making milk in normal condition.
Here we discuss only carcinomas.
